Billy Joel at Jones Beach Theater — Hometown Show

Billy Joel's annual Jones Beach Theater hometown show — the Long Island summer ritual since the early 1990s. Cold Spring Harbor's most famous son returns to the 15,000-seat amphitheater on the Atlantic. Best Long Island concert experience of the year for any LI native.

Billy Joel’s annual Jones Beach Theater hometown show is the closest thing Long Island has to a sacred summer ritual. The Hicksville-raised, Cold Spring Harbor-resident Billboard Hall of Fame inductee returns to the 15,000-seat amphitheater on the Atlantic, typically once each summer.

Why this show is different:

  • The Long Island-specific deep cuts come out — “Movin’ Out,” “Captain Jack,” “Where’s the Orchestra?” — that don’t always appear at Madison Square Garden shows
  • The crowd is the most-LI crowd you’ll see at any concert
  • The Jones Beach amphitheater on the Atlantic Ocean at sunset is structurally perfect for the back-half setlist
  • Pre-show drinks at the West End boardwalk bars, post-show traffic out the Causeway is a known shared experience

Practical:

  • Lawn seats ($85) are the LI native move — bring a blanket, no chairs allowed
  • Lower-bowl seats sell within hours of public on-sale
  • Parking is the major friction — $30+ at the venue, $10-15 at offsite lots with shuttle
  • Don’t drive home tipsy. Jones Beach DUI enforcement is real after concert events.
  • LIRR Wantagh + 20-minute Uber to the venue is the locals’ workaround

Look for fan-club presales 8 weeks before show date; public on-sale typically 6 weeks out.
