Rows of grapevines at a North Fork vineyard with the late-afternoon sun catching the leaves

North Fork Wine Trail — Saturday Tasting Hours

20+ North Fork vineyards open for tasting Saturday 11 AM – 6 PM. We'd start at Macari (best Cab Franc on the island), grab lunch at Lenz's outdoor garden, swing through Bedell, end at Pellegrini for sunset. Designated driver, ride share, or the Wine Tour Bus — please don't drive yourself between tastings.

The North Fork is genuinely serious wine country and people sleep on it. 20+ working vineyards, mostly small-batch, with the kind of casual outdoor tasting rooms that the Hamptons used to have before everything got expensive.

Editor’s route:

  1. Macari (11 AM, before crowds) — best Cab Franc on the island, no-fuss tasting room
  2. Lenz (1 PM lunch) — outdoor garden, food truck Saturdays, the Merlot
  3. Bedell (3 PM) — slightly fancier vibe, gorgeous tasting room
  4. Pellegrini (5 PM, sunset) — quieter, views over the vines

Get there: Take the LIRR Greenport line if you can, or use the North Fork Wine Tour Bus (book a week ahead). Driving the route yourself is the wrong move — these are full pours, not sips.

Bring: Cash for tips, a sweater for evening, snacks. Most vineyards do small bites but not full meals.
